We conduct comprehensive studies on numerical modeling of the Earth system including atmosphere, ocean, land, snow/ice, trace gases/aerosols and other components. Our goals are to construct an earth system model with hierarchical descriptions, which can be applied to highly-accurate monitoring and forecasting weather/climate phenomena at various spatio-temporal scales, and to propose directions for the next generation operational weather forecast system and climate model.
