Radiation Observation Building
At the Radiation Observation Building, we conduct solar radiation and spectral radiation observations to elucidate the effects of various substances in the atmosphere, such as cloud particles, aerosols, and water vapor, on the Earth’s radiation budget (the balance between the absorption and reflection of incoming solar radiation and the absorption and emission of radiation from the Earth).
Long-term observations of solar radiation and spectral radiation are essential for evaluating the impact of changes in atmospheric components - such as greenhouse gases, water vapor, clouds, and aerosols - on radiative processes, and are of critical importance for deepening our understanding of the mechanisms underlying global environmental changes, including global warming.
