Announcement

The Third International Workshop on Tokyo Metropolitan Area Convection Study for Extreme Weather Resilient Cities (TOMACS) will take place at the Japan Meteorological Agency in Tokyo, Japan from 4 to 5 February 2016. TOMACS has been endorsed by WWRP (World Weather Research Programme) of WMO as the international research and development project (RDP). The contents of the workshop include the following topics:

(1)mechanism of local high-impact weather (LHIW) in urban areas (e.g., local torrential rain, flash flood, strong wind, lightening),

(2)nowcasting and forecasting techniques of LHIW, and

(3)implementation of high resolution weather information to end-users through social experiments.

Welcome to participants who are interested in the aforementioned aspects.

Call for paper

Please submit your short abstract (no more than 200 words) by email to TOMACS-RDP-WS_LOC@mri-jma.go.jp by 10 December 2015, using the application form attached below. Program will be fixed in December 2015. Detail will be announced in the 2nd circular.

The workshop will have oral presentations. The language of presentation is English, and the presentation time is to be 15 minutes. Japanese members of ISSC and LOC may make minor changes in presentation time due to the schedule.
