Research on development of a coupled atmosphere-ocean data assimilation system

The aim of this research is to develop a coupled atmosphere-ocean data assimilation system that will enable the creation of physically balanced initial fields for the atmosphere and oceans. The system is expected to help improve the prediction of phenomena associated with atmosphereocean interaction. These range from relatively short-timescale events such. as tropical cyclones to those on a longer timescale such as tropical intraseasonal oscillation and seasonal prediction.
