A monitoring of precipitation amounts of artificial radioactive isotopes has been carried out at Meteorological Research Institute for more than 50 years. This is the longest fixed-point observation in the world.

After the accident of Fukushima nuclear power plants, the environmental radiation dose in the Kanto district was remarkably increased. However, the present (2014) level is not as high as those in 1950’s decade when nuclear tests were actively conducted by several countries.

During the observation, the long-term variations, including the signature of the Chernobyl accident have been recorded correctly.

We hope the data set is used properly for the scientific research and safe of people.
