Ocean Geochemistry

The main aim in the 4th laboratory is to observe temporal and spatial variations of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane by using high-precision and high-resolution measurements at ground-based stations and aircraft. Based on the observed data, we understand global carbon cycle linked with climate change in combination of meteorological analyses and numerical model experiments to estimate sources and sinks of greenhouse gases in the ocean and land biosphere. Other topic in our laboratory is to develop new measurement techniques for atmospheric monitoring in the next generation.
