Regional Climate and Heat, Water, CO2 Exchange Processes between the Atmosphere and Land SurfacesThe Third Research Laboratory conducts research on regional climate change due to global warming and the relevant change in local weather character since these directly affect daily life and social economic activities. To promote the research, it is necessary to develop regional climate models with heat, water, CO2 exchange processes between the atmosphere and land surfaces. This can be done through sophistication of a land surface model with the biosphere processes and its introduction to regional climate models. |
![]() Regional climate change due to global warming over Japan obtained by the MRI nested CGCM/RCM system. Differences in 10-year averaged January precipitation amount between the CO2 doubling climate and the present climate are shown here. |
